The JMB has traditionally invited leaseholders to a meeting each year (usually when the council produces annual bills) to discuss charges. Although the JMB viewed these meetings as useful it also felt that there was an opportunity to explore how the organisation could improve the experience of its home owning residents.
In November 2015 the JMB invited an independent facilitator and Southwark Council officials to the annual meeting. The objective was to begin a process of unpicking some of the more irritating aspects of the service. The meeting proved to be very successful and a volunteer group of leaseholders signed up to meet regularly to review each area of the service.
