JMB Customer Service Officers will be undertaking tenancy check visits on the Lawson Estate during August.
These checks are part of a rolling programme across all JMB estates and is just one of a series of measures taken to ensure properties are occupied by authorised tenants.
Residents need to provide proof of identification and address to satisfy the requirements of the verification check.
Whilst taking in a lodger with the JMB’s approval is permitted, unlawful subletting of social housing is a serious matter which can result in prosecution under criminal law, in some cases leading to six months imprisonment, financial penalties and the loss of the property.
