Ramadan has now begun for millions of Muslims in the UK and Worldwide who will join together and follow, in essence, the same routine for 29/30 days. The month will culminate with Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.
Whilst the period is commonly associated with fasting during day light hours Ramadan is much more than the restraint of not having food /water. Ramadan is also about reflection; spirituality; community building and giving to those who are need.
The Southwark Eid Festival is being planned for this year on the 6th or 7th July. This one day festival will attract over 10,000 people. The Southwark Eid Festival team are looking for volunteers from all faiths to support and enjoy this event, volunteering 4 hrs min to 8 hours on the day.
