The JMB and the community gardening organisation Groundwork have raised funding from a variety of sources to transform a real grot spot into what should be a lovely garden and relaxation area for residents, situated above the garages at Peveril House.
The last bit of funding secured was £10,000 from the Big Lottery Fund. This has been added to funding from the JMB and the Greater London Authority. We are also hopeful that Southwark Council will support the project through its Cleaner/Greener/ Safer funding.
The design for the area has been determined by local residents and will include picnic tables; window boxes; raised beds, decking and herb wall planters.
Works should start on Monday 8th December 2014 and take about one week to complete. A community planting day will be held in March.
