Following a series of anti social behaviour issues associated with the late night use of the estate football pitch, by youngsters who do not live on the estate, the residents association decided to conduct a survey to determine its future.
The survey essentially asked three questions:
- Were there residents willing to lock up the pitch daily at 9 pm to prevent anti social behaviour.
- Should the pitch be closed on a temporary basis if issues could not be resolved
- Should the pitch be closed permanently and the area used for an alternative community activity.
Although the survey attracted a low response (12%) it did produce 5 volunteers willing to lock up the pitch in the evenings.
The Bermondsey Street Tenants and Residents Association would like to thank the volunteers who have offered to lock up the pitch as this ensures the future of the facility for children who live on the estate.
