Long-delayed work to replace the two lifts in Burwash House and to refurbish the lifts at Simla House will finally start at the end of August 2011.
To minimise disruption to resdients, the lifts will be replaced one at a time in each block.
In Burwash House the lifts are to be completely replaced. Works on lift number L1121 will commence on 28 August 2011 and, lift number L1122 will follow afterwards on the 2 January 2012. The works are expected to last for 16 weeks in each case.
In Simla House, the lifts are in better condition and only need to be refurbished. This will see replacement of the lift ropes, lift car and landing doors and the lift control panels. Other mechanical parts will be also be replaced.
Work on each Simla House lift should take about 6 weeks. Work on lift 1123 will start on 15 August 2011 and work on lift 1124 will start on 27 September 2011. All the work should be finished by 8 November 2011.
Helping residents in need
One lift will be out of action in each block at any one time while work is taking place, meaning that some residents will have to walk up or down a flight one flight of stairs to g et to their home.If you, or know of any resident who will need help whilst the lifts are not operating please contact the Customer Services team on 020 7252 1626,1627 or 1609.
We are looking to arrange a meeting in the near future to give you a better idea of what the work will involve.
