Update on the Harper Square development (former Harper Road Flats)

    By JMB | General | Comments are Closed | 6 January, 2011 | 0

Work has started on the site of the old Harper Road flats, with posts and hoarding going up around the flats, much of the grassed area around it, and the JMB residents’ car park on Harper Road.

    HarperSquare Jan 11

This is the land that Southwark Council have given to Family Mosaic for the new ‘Harper Square’ development.

This land is now being fenced off so that the development work on the new homes can start. The JMB do not have any responsibility for this land any more and we have not been given details of what work is planned and when it is taking place.

Leathermarket JMB and the Lawson Estate Tenants and Residents Association are trying to work with Family Mosaic and their contractors to minimise the impact of the new development on the residents of Symington House and the Falmouth Road flats.

    > Read the history of the Harper Square development and the JMB’s opposition to the development following residents’ concerns

    If you have questions

This work is now being run by Family Mosaic. At the moment, if you have any questions or concerns about what is going on – including noise, dirt or any other problems – then you should contact Family Mosaic on 020 7089 1000 (their Head Office, just off Tower Bridge Road.) Lawson Estate Tenants and Residents Association and the JMB will be trying to get more details from Family Mosaic and Southwark Council about the work.

Family Mosaic still have to agree the plans for the remaining green space around Symington House and the Harper Road flats. Lawson Estate Tenants and Residents Association and the JMB will try to arrange further meetings to ensure these plans are acceptable to JMB residents.

If you have any questions or concerns about this work contact the JMB office.
