The Chair of the JMB, John Paul Maytum, has become the second JMB Director to take a significant national position, with his appointement to the National Tenant Council, the new Government advisory body.
John Paul’s appointment comes after JMB Director Fola Ogunkola’s role as a member of the National Executive Committee of the National Federation of Tenant Managed Organisations (NFTMO).

The National Tenant Council (NTC) is a new national body to make sure the voice of council and other social housing tenants is heard in the formation of national policy and the other big issues that affect tenants and the future of their homes. The NTC sits alongside the Tenant Services Authority – the new regulator for housing organisations.
John Paul said:
“It is by getting involved and making sure that residents’ voices are heard that we have made the JMB estates some of the best estates in Southwark, by making sure that we get the services we want provided in the way we want.
“I am delighted to be amongst the first tenants to join the National Tenant Council and believe this is a tribute to what we have achieved at Leathermarket JMB.
“I look forward to taking my experiences of the JMB, and the challenges that we have faced, on to the National Tenant Council and believe that, by getting involved at Government level, we will be able to improve the situation for tenants across the whole country.”
