Leathermarket JMB is holding a meeting for people who live in our tower blocks (Burwash House, Nashe House, Peveril House, Simla House, Symington House) to deal with issues around high-rising living particulaly safety and security.
The meeting will be held at the Lawson Roundhouse Hall, Great Dover Street, SE1 4EJ on Tuesday 11 August 2009 from 6pm to 8pm.
Fire Safety
The meeting will discuss the fire safety of people in JMB tower blocks, particulaly after the recent fire at the Lakanal block in Camberwell.
Southwark’s Borough Fire Commander, Andy Snazell, will be at the meeting to answer your questions.
Tower Block Security Project
The JMB is working to improve the security for people living in our tower blocks by improving the public areas surrounding the blocks. Southwark Council has awarded the JMB £22,000 of Joint Security Initiative funding to work with postgraduate students from the London University of the Arts on designs to improve these areas.
We want to make sure that the people living in the blocks are as involved as possible in this design work to ensure that it meets the needs of residents and is appropriate from the area. We want you to come along and tell us what you think of the plans.
Your other concerns
The meeting will also deal with any other concerns you may have about tower block living, including the reliability of lifts and water pressure in flats. If you have a particular problem you want to talk about then come along to the meeting and get answers from the JMB.
If you have any other questions about the meeting contact the JMB office.
