Rent Rises halved for 2009/10
19 March 2009
The planned rent rises for 2009/10 for JMB tenants have been halved following a decision by Southwark Council’s Executive.
Your rent for the coming year will now only go up by 2.73% rather than the 5.86% rise that was originally planned. This will a mean an increase for most homes of about £2-3 per week, rather than the £4-5 per week.
This means that the letter you will have received over the past month telling you what your rent for next year is now incorrect. We will try to get new letters out as soon as possible, but this will take a little time as we have to recalculate all the rent figures.
If you need to know what your rent is before your new letter arrives then please contact the JMB office.
The increases in heating charges and increases for the rent of garages and sheds are not changed by this decision.
