If you wish to park on a JMB Estate you will need to get a parking pass from the JMB. If a car is parked on a JMB estate at any time of the day or night – including weekends – then a valid parking pass must be displayed in the car.
If no valid parking pass is displayed then the car may be clamped or removed and you will have to pay to get the car released. If a car does not display a valid tax disc then it may also be clamped or removed, even if it has a valid JMB parking pass.
For certain properties [eg Trinity Street, Burge Street or Brockam Street] where you park on the roads outside an estate boundary, then you will need to get your parking pass from Southwark Council. For more information go to the Southwark Council website www.southwark.gov.uk.
These are only available for people whose names are on the tenancy agreement, or on the lease for that property. There is a maximum of 1 residential parking pass per property.
Residential parking passes are free and last for up to a year (depending on how long the car has a valid MOT for). These passes are only valid for a particular car and cannot be transferred.
To get a Residential parking pass you will need to bring a copy of the MOT certificate, the V5 certificate (‘log book’) and a valid insurance certificate into the JMB office. You will then be given a temporary parking pass which will be valid for a week. You should then come back to the office a week later to collect your permanent pass.
Visitors parking passes cost £10 and last for 3 months. They can be used in any car – or number of different cars – during this period.
Visitors Parking Passes are available for each property, provided that the person(s) responsible for that property are not in rent arrears or service charge arrears (if homeowners).
To get a Visitors Parking Pass you will need to come in to the JMB office with your £10 fee and proof of residency. You will then be given a temporary parking pass which will be valid for a week. You should then come back to the office a week later to collect your permanent pass.
Parking passes must only be used by people living in a JMB property or their authorised visitors.
The JMB reserves the right to withdraw a parking pass at any time. In particular, if the JMB finds that a parking pass is being used by a commuter or other person who is not staying on an estate then the parking pass will be withdrawn and no further parking passes will be allocated to that property.
