On 6 July WBA Heavyweight world champion David Haye opened the new landscaped area called 'The Haye' on the Kipling Estate Weston Street, SE1 at 6pm on Tuesday 6 July.
The landscaping work, between the tower blocks Simla House and Burwash House and the flats on Mulvaney Way and Guy Street, is the result of a partnership between Leathermarket JMB and the London Communication College, based at the Elephant & Castle.
David spent his early years living in Simla House and was delighted to come and open the space named in his honour. At the opening he made a cast of his hands to be a permanent memorial of the event before spent more an hour with fans and well-wishers, signing hundreds of autographs.
