Further to the letter we hand delivered to you Wednesday evening, we would like to thank all residents for their patience while we work with engineers and consultants to resolve some of the unusual problems which have arisen with the heating hot water service. Please find below an information update:
The latest developments: As explained in our last communication our engineers tell us that we need to install new pumps and this is likely to take four weeks. As the weather has remained relatively mild we have prioritised hot water over heating as there is insufficient capacity to provide both. Should the weather become significantly colder we will review this.
The new pumps: Once installed the new pumps should make the heating/hot water system fully operational (and possibly improved)
Water leaks: There are small pump rooms located by each block on the estate and you may have noticed that some of these have recently developed leaking pipe work. We are aware of this issue and are dealing with them where we can, so long as we can avoid shutting down the service.
Fan heaters – If you have a medical condition which could be affected by a lack of heating please call our out of hours service (0207 450 8000) tonight or tomorrow morning. We will deliver a fan heater to you tomorrow. If you do not fall into that category but would like a heater then please contact the JMB office on Monday and we will arrange delivery.
Long term – As previously stated, the JMB has already begun the process to completely renew the estate’s heating/hot water system. This is a huge undertaking and the nature of the contract means that the project cannot be delivered before 2016.
Goodwill payment – Please remember that the JMB Finance Sub Group has authorised a goodwill payment of £10 for all residents on the Meakin Estate while we are trying to fully re establish the heating/hot water service. You can claim this payment by calling into the office with proof of identity. Please contact us if you are unable to visit the office. Once we have fitted the new pumps we will review the question of compensation.
Once again thank you for your patience. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have problems which require additional assistance.
